After demand for the all-electric Ford F-150 skyrocketed, is a no brainer that the Ford Ranger may be the next pickup to be electrified. Recent comments from Ford leadership lead up to believe that the Ford Ranger Lightning will likely be added to the lineup for the 2025 model year. Ford CEO Jim Farley has stated that another electric pickup is currently in the works, and also confirmed that Ford is planning to build around two million electric vehicles over the next two years. Ford’s focus is shifting to become the world’s number one electric pickup maker.
Already available with a hybrid powertrain option, the current For Ranger can reach as much as 600 miles on a single tank of gas. The All electric version is not likely to offer this type of range, however, it should get similar if not better range than the F-150 Lightning.
The base level electric Ford Ranger will likely have a starting price below $40,000. It is unclear if there will be any incentives or tax breaks available for the purchase of this vehicle.
We would not be at all surprised is an all-electric Maverick model follows the release of the Ford Ranger Lightning. Currently, the Ford Maverick is available with a hybrid, or standard engine options.
